About CPD
At Council for Persons with Disabilities (CPD), we’re here to break barriers and push for real change. Since 1989, we’ve been advocating for equal rights and better access for people with disabilities in Peterborough/Nogojiwanong. Recognized by the City of Peterborough as a leading voice on accessibility, we work with businesses, schools, and local governments to create a more inclusive community.

What We Do
We’re more than advocates. We’re problem solvers who:
- Push for city-wide renovations that improve accessibility
- Deliver educational programs that shift perspectives
- Connect people with disabilities to essential services and programs
- Advise businesses and policymakers on accessibility and inclusion
Our Mission
To improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by promoting equality, opportunity and inclusion, so everyone can contribute and participate fully in their community.
Our Vision
A future where everyone can live, learn, work and play without barriers.
Our Values
Equity: Fair treatment and respect for all
Access: Barrier-free spaces and services
Inclusion: Full participation in community life
Diversity: Every voice and perspective matters
Choice: The right to make decisions and live independently
Respect: Seeing people for who they are, not just their disability
At CPD, we’re not just talking about change. We’re making it happen.
