The Council for Persons with Disabilities (CPD) is pleased to announce registration has opened for its 2015 Inclusion Conference on Inclusive Sport and Physical Recreation held at Fleming College, Sutherland Campus, on Friday, May 29, 2015 and the Adapted Sport EXPO held at Kenner Collegiate Vocational School on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
Timing is perfect as the PanAm and ParaPanAm games are approaching and physical activity for persons of all abilities is at the top of everyone’s mind. We have an exciting line-up of presenters appealling to educators, administrators, recreation professionals and individuals interested in getting active, and have our very own Alec Denys, Peterborough’s torch bearer for the PanAm games as the opening keynote speaker.
The goal of the Inclusion Conference is to emphasize the importance of, and build capacity enabling, the meaningful inclusion and integration of people with a range of abilities so they can participate in sport and recreation together.
You will not want to miss this opportunity to access a wealth of information relating to best practices on creating inclusive sport and recreation opportunities. For more information visit our Inclusion Conference page.
According to Statistics Canada, approximately 14% of individuals in Canada live with a disability, and studies indicate that only 3% of these individuals participate in regular physical activity. Come find out how you can help to increase participation rates in your community! Early bird rate of $90 until April 30th, financial subsidies available.
CPD is grateful for the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Government of Ontario as well as its partners: Fleming College and the City of Peterborough.
